Have a Campfire
Is it really camping (I mean … glamping!) if you don’t have a campfire?
Nothing says relaxation like sitting around a campfire day or night, no matter the season. Cook your meal over the fire, roast some marshmallows, or simply gaze into the flames and enjoy the warmth.
We supply the paper, cardboard, kindling and firewood (even a lighter). Heck, we even have some marshmallows there for you and a few marshmallow-roasting sticks!
All you have to do is show up and practice your fire-building skills. Want help? Check out this guide from KOA:
Soak in the Wood-Fired Hot Tub
If you REALLY want to get your relax on, you’re going to want to test out the wood-fired stock-tank hot tub. This tub was custom built by a fella in Fitzroy Harbour during COVID lockdown. When a move forced him to pass it along, we welcomed it here with open arms. With a few simple modifications, we’ve made it one of the stars of Star Haven Glamping!
Nothing beats soaking in the warm hot tub, listening to the crackle of fire, as you gaze up at the stars. To top it off, we even have bathrobes here for your to cozy up in before and afterwards.
As a bonus, we’ll even get the fire started for you so the tub is ready to rock when you are!
Please note that the hot tub is available May-October.
Follow the Trail
Star Haven Glamping is nestled on 26 incredible acres just outside of Westport, Ontario. The property is sandwiched between a private road that leads to neighbouring Sunnyside Family Retreat on one side, a private driveway on the other side. Upper Rideau Lake is just beyond Star Haven Glamping’s acreage, which means you don’t have to travel far to reach the water’s edge. You can access lakes from Westport Lions Sand Lake Beach, Westport Harbour, Forrester’s Landing, Newboro Locks, Portland Bay, and many other spots.
Amid Star Haven’s 26 acres, there is over a kilometre of cleared trail for you to explore. The path was cut such that no trees were taken down so as to minimize its impact. It’s very common to cross paths with deer, turkeys and rabbits as you stroll along, especially if you’re out early in the morning. Some evenings you' may hear coyotes out there, too!
During the winter months you’ll find snowshoes stowed at the dome for you to use on the trails.
Skate on the Pond
Fancy a skate on the pond? Be sure to pack your skates.
The pond is up towards the main house, so it’s about a 5-minute walk from the dome. Carry your skates (and hockey stick and puck!) through the gate and waltz on over to the ice. There are a few step that take you down to the rink and you’ll find a nice sturdy bench there when you can sit to lace up your skates.
If you want to practice your shot, feel free to use the hockey net.
If you’re really set on skating, be sure to message us ahead of time to double-check that the rink is open (sometimes the weather isn’t on-board with rink maintenance).
